Singing Our Way Back to Each Other is a Hope Beyond Borders Experience—a musical journey designed to help people practice something our communities urgently need: belonging across difference.
Through original music, storytelling, humor, reflection, community singing, and real human encounter, people are invited not simply to watch a performance, but to take part—to listen, make room for one another, and discover what can happen when we come together without requiring sameness.
Singer-songwriter and Hope Beyond Borders founder Jerry Leggett works with local hosts, storytellers, musicians, community partners, and everyday people to create an experience that belongs to the community itself.
At the center is a simple question:
How do we become one without becoming the same?
In a time of loneliness, division, and disconnection, Hope Beyond Borders creates space to practice another way—to see one another, widen the circle, carry something together, and begin creating the kind of community we long for.
Every voice matters. Every story matters. Everyone has something to bring.
Invite your community to sing its way back together.

How It Works
What Happens at a Singing Our Way Back to Each Other Event
A Singing Our Way Back to Each Other event is a 75–90 minute community experience built around music, story, reflection, and participation.
It is designed to help people do something we all need practice doing: make room for one another without requiring sameness.
During the experience, people may:
Sing and listen together through original songs, familiar music, humor, and moments of reflection.
Encounter real stories that help us see the dignity, courage, struggle, and hope in one another.
Explore six questions of belonging—questions about difference, courage, home, what we carry, and what we can create together.
Meet people and perspectives beyond their usual circle, without asking anyone to surrender their convictions or pretend our differences do not matter.
Take part rather than simply watch—through conversation, singing, reflection, a community choir, or other shared experiences.
Recognize ordinary courage, including Peace Heroes and people whose lives remind us what it looks like to make room for others.
Connect with local organizations and community voices already doing meaningful work.
Imagine a next step together—a relationship, a project, an act of welcome, service, support, or simply another gathering.
Each event is created in partnership with the host community. The songs, stories, people, partners, and form may change from place to place.
What remains constant is the invitation:
See one another. Widen the circle. Take a risk. Make room. Carry something together. Create something together.
And beneath the experience...
We believe belonging is not simply a feeling. It is a human capacity that can grow stronger through practice.
Hope Beyond Borders creates the conditions.
People exercise the capacities.
Community is what may grow from the practice.
